Rashford may not get Barca move
Marcus Rashford may not be able to move to Barcelona on a permanent basis, according to The Sun.
A recent drop in Barcelona’s spending limits means that the Spaniards may no longer be able to afford the Manchester United man.
“The Manchester United loanee has made a flying start in Spain, bagging two goals in Barca’s Champions League win over Newcastle at St James’ Park this week.
“But despite his electric form, the Spanish giants have been hit hard by new financial restrictions that could block any big-money signings, including turning Rashford’s loan into a full-time deal.
“According to reports in Spain, LaLiga confirmed on Friday that Barca’s official salary cap for the 2025/26 season has been cut from €463 million to €351m — a whopping drop of €112m (£96m).
“That wage limit includes salaries, transfer fees, and other squad costs. And if clubs go over it, La Liga won’t register new signings, no matter how big the name.”
Guehi to snub Liverpool for Real
Real Madrid now lead the race for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi as he prepares to move on as a free agent.
The Mirror believes both he and Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate could be on their way to the Spanish side in the summer.
“That could be a double blow for Arne Slot’s Premier League champions because Ibrahima Konate is running his contract down in readiness to leave on a free transfer next summer – with Real Madrid amongst a cluster of clubs interested.
“Crystal Palace halted England defender Guehi’s £35 million transfer to Anfield on the last day of the summer transfer window after failing to secure a replacement. But hopes that the deal would be resurrected either in January or next summer when Guehi’s own contract ends are poised to be shattered.
“Having been informed that Real Madrid are now poised to enter negotiations for the 25-year-old who won praise for his handling of the recent transfer speculation.”
Potter on the brink at West Ham
The Daily Mail reports that Slaven Bilic and Nuno Espirito Santo are in the running to replace Graham Potter.
A 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace this weekend has seen the West Ham manager move closer to the exit.
“The Hammers head coach heard chants of ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ from his own fans in their 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace that left them 18th in the table.
“Potter insisted he still had the support of the board but it is understood the club will feel forced to make a change unless he can oversee a dramatic change of results in the coming weeks.
“Senior sources told Daily Mail Sport ahead the game that Potter still had their full backing but they have already begun to line up potential replacements should they make a change, with former boss Slaven Bilic and ex-Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo among those discussed.”
Arsenal linked with Benedetti
Reports in Spain have linked Arsenal with Palmeiras’ young left-back Luiz Benedetti.
The 19-year-old is also a target for Barcelona, and Serie A champions Napoli are also keen.
“This comes despite Arteta already boasting numerous left-sided defensive options, including Italian sensation Riccardo Calafiori, England international Myles Lewis-Skelly and recent £45 million acquisition Piero Hincapie.”
