Thiago Silva admits he was thinking of Milan during Inter win and reveals Allegri conversation

Thiago Silva admitted that it felt like a derby for him playing against Inter, and dedicated Fluminense’s victory to the AC Milan fans.

It would be fair to say that the Brazilian side emerged as surprise winners in their FIFA Club World Cup last 16 game against Inter. They were not the favourites to go through to the quarter-finals but they did, and they will face Manchester City’s conquerors Al-Hilal.

German Cano gave them a perfect start, heading home inside five minutes. After withstanding a barrage of pressure from the Nerazzurri, Hercules scored a curling shot from the edge of the box to make sure of the victory.

Thiago Silva reiterates love for Milan

After the game, Thiago Silva – who joined Milan from Fluminense in 2009 and stayed for three year – spoke to DAZN to reveal his emotions. He couldn’t help but give a mention to the Rossoneri and the fans who still love him dearly. His comments are via MilanNews.

Thiago, how do you feel?

“I’m happy with the match we played, it’s not easy to play like this against Inter. We knew it would be difficult, defensively we played a good match, even though we weren’t able to play with the ball as we are used to because they were pressing and it was very hot. But I’m happy.”

Did you ask around about Inter?

“I’m passionate about football and this week I called Allegri, who I’m very good friends with. I asked him about Inter, he spoke highly of them as a team, because he respects them a lot. He gave me good information!”

And did you talk about Milan?

“We didn’t manage to talk about that, we didn’t have much time. But I told him that in January, if I can, I’ll come and see him and Ibra.”

The Milan fans will enjoy this…

“I’m sure that Milan fans appreciated this win. I dedicate this victory to them as well, I thought of them the entire game.”
