Christian Pulisic scored in the first game of Milan’s season. This, surely, is a good thing. Yes, it was a bit of a tap in, dished up against a Serie B team who won’t be anywhere near promotion this year. But bundling the ball over the line against an inferior side still counts for something, and if the Pulisic redemption arc has to start, at least it’s with a goal.
And now the real stuff begins. He will suit up for Milan in a contest that means a little more, likely in the picture for the Serie A clash against newly-promoted Cremonese, a fixture that completes a kind start to the season for the Rossonieri.
In England, the USMNT No. 9 battle rages on. Neither Josh Sargent nor Haji Wright have done enough to grasp the position with both hands – not yet, at least. But both will be in action this weekend.
Sargent seems like a player in between the Championship and Premier League, and probably needs this season to show he can perform at the next level. Wright just needs to stay fit. And then there’s Sergino Dest, who’s dribbling his way back into the USMNT side – literally.
