Arsenal have reached an agreement with Shamrock Rovers for the signing of teenage midfielder Victor Ozhianvuna.
The Gunners have had a productive summer and have made seven signings thus far.
The club recently confirmed the acquisition of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace after hijacking Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein now reports that Arsenal have agreed on an Irish record fee to purchase Shamrock Rovers’ Ozhianvuna.
The 16-year-old is already playing first-team football in the League of Ireland’s Premier Division.
He will sign a pre-contract with the north London giants, and will formally join them in January 2027 after he turns 18 due to Brexit rules.
The exact transfer fee is not mentioned, but it is higher than what Spurs paid for Mason Melia from St Patrick’s Athletic (£1.6 million).
Ozhianvuna has already completed his medical with the Gunners and a deal could be formally signed in the next few days.
Ozhianvuna looks a very bright prospect
The Republic of Ireland youth international has already made 15 appearances for Shamrock in his career.
He is a right-footed midfielder, who likes to operate from the left. Ozhianvuna has the ability to feature from multiple positions.
Ozhianvuna has played as a left winger, right winger as well as in the number 10 role. He has occasionally played as a number eight too.
Arsenal already have a bright future ahead after the exceptional breakthroughs of Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly over the last 12 months.
Max Dowman made his Premier League debut at just 15 yesterday, and he has the potential to become an elite attacking player in the long run.
Arsenal’s talent spotting has been very good at the junior level. Ozhianvuna could be another big talent.
The youngster should gain valuable experience playing in the senior squad at Shamrock before joining the club during the winter of 2027.
