Barcelona’s summer signing Roony Bardghji has made it clear that he is not too worried about his first-team registration.
The 19-year-old winger, who joined Barça after making a name for himself at FC Copenhagen, believes the matter will be resolved soon and that he will be part of Hansi Flick’s first-team plans.
Speaking in a recent interview, Bardghji said, “I think it will be ready.” When asked directly if this meant with the first team, he responded confidently: “Yes, definitely.”
When pressed further on whether the plan was always clear at the time of signing, Bardghji explained:
“Yes, definitely. I don’t think I would have been there if it had been with the youth teams.
“To come from the first team after playing more than 100 games and then go to the reserve team. I don’t think I would have agreed to that. So that wasn’t the plan.”
Available in Europe despite La Liga delay
Although Bardghji’s La Liga registration has not yet been finalised, the situation is different in the Champions League.
UEFA’s squad rules mean that he has been placed on Barcelona’s ‘A list’, allowing him to be available for all matches in Europe’s top competition.
The Swedish winger will wear the No. 28 shirt in the Champions League, a decision linked to UEFA regulations rather than club strategy.
With Barça having to submit a maximum of 25 players on the ‘A list’, Bardghji has been included in the main group as he does not meet the criteria for the ‘B list’.
This means Flick will have Bardghji at his disposal throughout the continental campaign, giving the youngster a chance to prove his quality on the biggest stage.
While his domestic registration is still pending, the player himself remains calm and focused, confident that it is only a matter of time before he officially joins Barcelona’s first-team squad in La Liga as well.
