In a little over three weeks, on 1 October, FC Barcelona will play host to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League in one of the most highly anticipated matches in the league phase.
Barcelona were one of the best teams in Europe last season, while PSG went on to win the Champions League, making their upcoming clash a mouth-watering one.
Leading up to the match, though, it appears that the Parisian giants have been dealt a massive double injury blow, which could prove to be a huge boost for Barcelona.
Dembele, Doue set to miss Barcelona clash
Indeed, key PSG forwards Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue seem set to miss the UCL clash against Barcelona after suffering injuries on Friday while playing for the French national team.
According to journalist Fabrice HawkinsDembele is set to be out of action for a period of six weeksmeaning he will most certainly be unavailable to face his former club Barça on 1 October.
The ex-Barcelona winger, a top contender for the 2025 Ballon d’Or, did not start for France against Ukraine due to some discomfort in his thigh. But having come as a substitute, he seemingly aggravated his condition and is now staring at a period of six weeks out.
As for Doue, who was the player that Dembele replaced on the pitch, the young forward was withdrawn vs Ukraine due to a calf injury.
Now, according to Benjamin Quarez of The Parisianfollowing tests being carried out, Doue is expected to be out on the treatment tables for three to four weeks.
That puts his availability for the trip to Barcelona under serious doubt, with the game set to be played in a little over three weeks.
Both Doue and Dembele are extremely important players for PSG and their potential absence will serve a major blow to Luis Enrique’s team, while benefitting Barcelona immensely.
