Barcelona are eyeing their third back-to-back win in all competitions as they take on Getafe on Sunday.
Having scored eight goals in the last two matches, Barça will be confident heading into this game, but should be wary of Getafe’s infamous low-block defence, masterminded by coach Jose Bordalas.
Over the years, Bordalas has made a name for himself for professing a low-block defence with aggressive pressing.
This could make things challenging for coach Hansi Flick, although it appears the German has already drawn up a plan to combat Getafe this weekend.
Flick’s plan to beat Getafe
According to SPORTFlick is planning to make a host of changes to the squad, bringing in key stars that could help Barcelona more against Getafe’s defence.
Most of the changes will be in defence, with Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen starting at centre-back instead of Ronald Araujo and Pau Cubarsi.
Both Garcia and Christensen are adept at carrying the ball and could, therefore, lend an extra hand to Barcelona’s build-up play from the back. Flick, meanwhile, is also considering bringing in Jofre Torrents at left-back.
In midfield, Flick plans to bring in Marc Casado, who will replace the exhausted Frenkie de Jong.
Casado impressed on his last start against Valencia and could play a key role in orchestrating the game in the middle of the park.
Things get interesting in the attacking department, where Dani Olmo could be set for a rare starting opportunity, replacing Fermin in the number ten role.
Olmo has barely started games for Barcelona this season. But the Spaniard’s ability to wriggle through tight spaces and create opportunities in the final third makes him an ideal fit for Getafe’s low defensive block.
Olmo will be providing the creative firepower to the unchanged attacking trifecta of Robert Lewandowski, Marcus Rashford and Raphinha, with Lamine Yamal still sidelined.
