SPURS CLAIM DRAW FROM TWO DOWN
Yankuba Minteh opened the scoring for the Seagulls in the first half, with Yasin Ayari grabbing his first Premier League goal of the season as Brighton doubled their lead on 31 minutes.
Richarlison pulled one back for the visitors shortly before the break to give them hope.
With the game entering the final few minutes and Brighton trying to hold on for a huge win, a cross from Mohammed Kudus forced a mistake from Jan Paul van Hecke and the defender scored an own goal.
The point keeps Spurs in the top two before Arsenal face Manchester City on Sunday, while Brighton are 13th with five points from their opening five matches.
CALVERT-LEWIN ‘SHUTS UP’ WOLVES CROWD WITH FIRST LEEDS GOAL
Dominic Calvert-Lewin nabbed his first goal for Leeds United as they left Molineux Stadium with three points after a 3-1 win over Wolves.
The 28-year-old signed for the newly-promoted club in the summer and made his mark on Saturday, silencing a Wolves crowd that had been chanting at him.
“I think they (the Wolves fans) had a chant going. I heard my name, and I thought ‘why are they singing my name?’. So obviously the best way to shut them up is score a goal at that end and point to my shirt.”
But that bright start dimmed and Leeds scored three unanswered goals in the first half to take the win.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin kicked-off the 15-minute flurry shortly after the half hour mark, before Anton Stach added the second.
Noah Okafor sealed the win on the stroke of half-time with a left-footed shot, assisted by Stach.
Defeat keeps Wolves at the bottom of the Premier League table on zero points, while Leeds rise to ninth.
PALACE WIN BACK-AND-FORTH CLASH
West Ham suffered a 2-1 defeat, and were unable to climb out of the bottom three after falling on the losing end of a back-and-forth tussle with Crystal Palace.
Jean-Philippe Mateta struck first for the visitors as he headed in from very close range.
Only four minutes into the second half, Jarrod Bowen equalised with a header of his own, only for Palace to fire back 20 minutes later as Tyrick Mitchell scored what turned out to be the winner.
It was an important win for Palace as they climbed to fourth in the table after five games, ahead of Chelsea visiting Manchester United later on Saturday.
BURNLEY AND FOREST LABOUR TO DRAW
Burnley and Nottingham Forest each come away with a point after a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor.
Ange Postecoglou’s side got off to a positive start, as Neco Williams found a goal within two minutes to score his side’s first Premier League goal under the former Spurs head coach.
Just under 20 minutes later, Jaidon Anthony found Burnley’s equaliser.
After a quick start, the game simmered down and neither side could pull ahead, finishing a goal apiece.
