IWOBI INSPIRES FULHAM TO COMEBACK WIN OVER RIVALS BRENTFORD
Goals in the space of 98 seconds from Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi helped Fulham to a 3-1, come-from-behind victory over local rivals Brentford at Craven Cottage.
Wilson delicately curled home after Iwobi set him up – fewer than two minutes following Iwobi’s own strike – to turn this West London derby on its head and send Fulham in ahead at the break.
An Ethan Pinnock own goal five minutes after the restart completed Brentford’s misery. It’s the third straight edition of this rivalry game which Fulham have won after trailing.
It could even have been worse for the Bees, but for a VAR review disallowing a fourth goal emphatically slammed home by Rodrigo Muniz because he had caught Nathan Collins with a stray arm in the build-up.
Mikkel Damsgaard had given Brentford the lead by pouncing on a loose Josh King pass and slotting home, on his return to the visitors’ line-up, before the game swung dramatically in Fulham’s favour.
The Cottagers climb to seventh in the table, on eight points, while Brentford have only four and are one spot above the relegation zone.
