Jakub Mensik glad to follow in Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s footsteps following Laver Cup win against Alex Michelsen

Mensik was in attendance at the first Laver Cup in Prague in 2017, and even got to watch the legendary duo team up for a doubles match against Nick Kyrgios and Jack Sock.

Federer and Nadal defeated Kyrgios and Sock 6-4 1-6 10-4 in their doubles clash eight years ago.

This time Federer watched on as the Czech star edged a closely-fought clash with Michelsen at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

Mensik says that it was cool to have one of his heroes in the crowd for the thrilling encounter.

“Obviously, when it was the Laver Cup for the first time in Prague, I was hoping to see Roger and Rafa playing together, and I got that on the second day,” he said during his post-match interview.

“I was lucky that they played on the same court. It has been a pleasure watching them and playing a few years after here on the same court.

“Roger is watching me, it is pretty cool actually.”
