Official: Barcelona star Gavi out for 4-5 months after surgery

FC Barcelona have confirmed that midfielder Gavi underwent arthroscopic surgery earlier today to address his knee injury.

While it was anticipated that the Spanish international would be out for around five weeks, the Catalans are stating that he would be out for a whopping 4-5 months, which comes as a major blow.

“First team player Pablo Páez Gavira ‘’ has undergone an arthroscopy to repair the injury to his internal meniscus. It has been sutured in order to preserve the meniscus. The recovery time is estimated at around 4-5 months,” the statement read.

This comes as a devastating development for the young midfielder, who already endured having spent nearly a year out of action after an ACL injury sustained in November 2023.

The timeline for his recovery means that Gavi will not play again for Barcelona in 2025 and fans will have to wait until sometime next year to see the young midfielder back in action.

Get well soon, Gavi!
