Barcelona consider £26 million permanent switch for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford – Paper Round

Barcelona consider Rashford move

Barcelona are still willing to sign Marcus Rashford on loan this summer, according to The Telegraph.

While no deal is certain, an option of £26 million could still be activated next summer.

The paper reports: “Barcelona remain open to signing Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal despite the England forward being dropped for being late to a team meeting.

“Deco, the club’s sporting director, insists Barca are happy with Rashford following his season-long loan move from Manchester United and have an option to sign him for a fee in the region of £26m next summer.

“Rashford, 27, has scored two goals and provided four assists in eight appearances since moving to Barcelona, although he was dropped to the bench against Getafe recently as punishment for lateness.”

Malacia may earn man utd stay

Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia has a chance to earn a reprieve at Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old left-back is out of contract in the summer, but Ruben Amorim is now giving him a chance to win a first team place.

The Mirror explains: “Tyrell Malacia has been reintegrated into the first-team squad by Ruben Amorim following a dramatic change of heart by the Manchester United manager.

“Malacia was a part of the so-called ‘bomb squad’ over the summer and was forced to train away from the group in an effort to push him out of the door.

“His contract with United is due to expire at the end of June, leaving the 26-year-old full-back in limbo until the end of the season. After failing to secure an exit before the September 1 deadline, Malacia was sent to train with the under-21s, while he has also been uploading pictures on social media of him training solo.

“The Portuguese boss will reportedly give the Dutchman a chance to fight his way back into the team. Malacia is a left-sided defender and finds himself behind Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu in the pecking order.”

Spurs plan to keep Bentancur

Tottenham have received a boost as they aim to keep Rodrigo Bentancur at the club.

The 28-year-old is set to sign a new deal, but Yves Bissouma is likely to be released next summer.

The Sun writes: “Rodrigo Bentancur is close to agreeing a new contract at Tottenham.

“Spurs have made renewing the Uruguayan’s terms a top priority given his current deal expires at the end of the season.

“And now SunSport understands the midfielder, 28, is ready to put pen to paper on a fresh contract.

“The Uruguay star started May’s Europa League final triumph against Manchester United in midfield alongside Yves Bissouma, who is also out of contract next summer.

“But unlike Bentancur, Spurs have been keen to let the Mali man go but saw a possible summer sale scuppered by a knee injury.”

Rangers and Celtic could battle for Ekwah

The Daily Record believes that Rangers and Celtic could do battle for a former Sunderland midfielder.

Pierre Ekwah could be available for nothing after a dispute with Ligue 2 side St Etienne.

The paper reports: “The Light Blues, along with rivals Celtic, have reportedly been offered the chance to sign French midfielder Pierre Ekwah.

“It comes just months after he made a £5 million move from Sunderland to St Etienne this summer after the Ligue 2 side triggered a loan-to-buy clause in his contract

“But the 23-year-old was unhappy after they dropped into the French second tier despite his strong showings and reports in France say he has now officially ripped up his contract with immediate effect.”
