Zirzkee may return to Serie A
The Sun suggests that Como could make a move for Joshua Zirkzee in the January transfer window.
The forward could also be wanted by fellow Serie A side Juventus, and he might be available on loan or a permanent deal.
“Despite reports, no agreement has been struck for the Dutch striker to join Cesc Fabregas’ side. But United would consider a sale or loan move in the winter window.
“Zirkzee, one of Erik ten Hag’s final signings, joined for £36.5 million after his 11 goals helped Bologna qualify for their first ever Champions League campaign in the 2023/ 2024 season.
“But now the 24-year-old forward could be set to return to Serie A after moving to Manchester 14 months ago.
“Mid-table side Como are monitoring a move for Zirkzee, while Juventus could re-enter the race again after registering an interest in the summer.”
Southgate not interested in United job
The Mirror believes that former England manager Gareth Southgate would not be interested in replacing Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.
The outlet cites his relationship with Dan Ashworth, let go as United sporting director after five months, and a reticence to hurry back into management.
“It’s understood that Southgate is not in any rush to return to football. However, he is keeping his options open – both within the game and outside.
“He’s been seen at numerous matches, as well as other sporting events, in recent months, and remains close with a number of his former FA colleagues.
“However, Southgate is also close friends with Dan Ashworth, who had a long-term plan to appoint Southgate when he worked at United. Ashworth lasted just five months in his role as sporting director.”
Amorim could be running out of time
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim may have a month left to show he is the man to lead the club.
The Portuguese would be cheaper to pay off if he is sacked after longer than a year in charge, meaning the club may be waiting for November to act.
“It’s been suggested that the Red Devils might postpone any decision to dismiss Amorim due to the hefty compensation package he would be entitled to.
“United would have to cough up £12m if they were to sack the 40-year-old before he completes a year in service.
“Since he joined on November 1 last year, this could well be the deadline for Amorim to prove his worth or risk being shown the door – as his compensation package would decrease if the club were to let him go after this date.”
West Ham stars could be set for exit
West Ham’s James Ward-Prowse, Jean-Clair Todibo, Mads Hermansen, Guido Rodriguez and Andrew Irving could all be set to leave the club.
The Evening Standard reports new manager Nuno Espirito Santo may not plan to move forward with the five players.
“Mads Hermansen, signed for £15 million from Leicester this summer, was another player to miss out against Everton as he was dropped in goal for the second game running in favour of Alphonse Areola.
“Nuno’s first game was always going to be revealing as to who he feels (he) can and can’t trust.
So, his decision to bring on academy graduate Freddie Potts ahead of 31-year-old Guido Rodriguez, to shore up the midfield in the second-half against Everton, spoke volumes.
“Irving has made just 14 Premier League appearances since coming into the fold under Julen Lopetegui last season, with only one start to his name, and it seems unlikely his minutes will increase under Nuno after being brought on to kill time in the 94th minute against Everton.”
