Forest to make Postecoglou decision
The Daily Mail believes the club will take a view in the international break if they lose to Newcastle United this weekend.
“Thursday’s home defeat by Midtjylland in the Europa League, in front of owner Evangelos Marinakis, saw the home crowd turn on Postecoglou after a sixth game without a victory for the Australian, who was appointed only on September 9.
“Fans chanted, ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ and sang for former boss Nuno Espírito Santo – himself dismissed by Forest only last month and now at West Ham.
“Forest travel to Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday ahead of a two-week international break. Postecoglou desperately needs to turn the tide with a victory at St James’ Park, which would be Forest’s first in any competition since the opening day of the season.”
Arsenal want Timber to sign new deal
Talks have started with the 24-year-old defender after he continued to impress at the start of the season.
“The defender has just under three years to run on his current deal, but is set to be rewarded for his fine form.
“Timber has started six of Arsenal’s nine games this season and has been one of their best players.
“Arsenal have now opened contract talks with the 24-year-old’s representatives and Mikel Arteta has expressed his desire for the Dutchman to sign fresh terms.”
Carrick linked with Man Utd job
UEFA technical observer Michael Carrick has once again been linked with a managerial job, this time by the Daily Express.
Carrick is reportedly in the frame to take over from Ruben Amorim on a temporary basis should Ruben Amorim be sacked by Manchester United.
“The former Middlesbrough boss has been touted for a shock comeback to the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ as caretaker manager, should The Red Devils hierarchy decide to axe the Portuguese tactician. It’s a responsibility he’s fulfilled previously, having stepped into the breach as interim boss after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s exit from the club.
“Carrick’s opening match in the hotseat delivered victory against Villarreal in the Champions League, and he also secured a thrilling 3-2 triumph over Arsenal in the Premier League. He relinquished his role as first-team coach upon Ralf Rangnick’s arrival at Old Trafford, having secured two victories and one stalemate during his temporary tenure.”
Gerrard considers Rangers return – on one condition
The Daily Record claims that Steven Gerrard would be willing to consider the manager’s job at Rangers.
However, the outlet relays claims that the former Liverpool captain would only do so if he were given support in the transfer market.
“The Liverpool icon has been persistently linked with a return to Ibrox, having previously led the club to a 55th Scottish title during his stint in Glasgow.
“But Record Sport understands that at that stage Gerrard’s representatives told the Ibrox owners Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises that he was not ready to move his family back to the UK from the Middle East after his spell at Al-Ettifaq – and pulled out of the running.
“That was the second time the 49ers have shown an interest in the Liverpool icon – having previously been on the NFL investment wing’s radar at Leeds United before they appointed Daniel Farke.”
