Premier League result as Antoine Semenyo’s two goals inspire dramatic Cherries fightback

CHERRIES GO SECOND AFTER DRAMATIC COMEBACK

The brilliant Antoine Semenyo scored twice as Bournemouth moved up to second in the Premier League with a pulsating comeback against Fulham.

Fulham were on course for a precious away victory when Ryan Sessegnon gave them the lead in the 70th minute, but two goals from Semenyo and a belter from the substitute Justin Kluivert turned things around.

A match played in vile weather conditions took a while to get going, with Bernd Leno’s smart save to deny Semenyo the most notable incident of the first half. It got better in the second, with decent chances at both ends before Fulham took the lead.

Sessegnon surged forward from left-back, onto a forensic return pass from the substitute Samuel Chukwueze, and lifted the ball calmly over Djordje Petrovic.

Bournemouth’s equaliser in the 78th minute was all down to the brilliance of Semenyo, who skipped past Timothy Castagne, stretched to keep the ball in play and beat Leno from a tight angle.

Five minutes later, Kluivert whipped a curling shot past Leno from 25 yards, and Semenyo sealed victory in the last minute of injury time with an emphatic finish on the break.

Bournemouth’s next game is a trip to unbeaten Crystal Palace after the international break. Fulham, who can’t catch a break at the moment, host title challengers Arsenal.
