Arsenal climbed to the top of the Premier League table ahead of Liverpool following a 2-0 win over West Ham United last weekend.
The Gunners dominated proceedings from the start and deservedly secured a victory over the Hammers at the Emirates Stadium.
Leandro Trossard started on the left wing for the Gunners. He did not make a significant impact, but was on the pitch for 75 minutes.
The Belgian has now linked up with the national team for the World Cup qualifiers against North Macedonia and Wales.
Ahead of those games, Trossard has clarified that he feels very good at Arsenal and has never thought about leaving the club.
He told Sporza: “There are always such rumours. But leaving was never really an option.
“I feel very good at Arsenal. At the start of the season I struggled a bit with an injury.
“I think the rumours came from the lack of minutes. But in the last few weeks, I’ve played a lot, done my job and I feel good about it.”
Trossard was touted to head for the exit door during the summer transfer window amid Arsenal’s pursuit of a specialist left winger.
Real Madrid’s Rodrygo was mentioned as a possible solution for the Gunners, but nothing materialised beyond the speculation.
Arsenal ended up signing Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke to bolster the attack.
Eze and Madueke are specialists in the number 10 and right wing roles, but they have occasionally played on the left wing as well.
Trossard was much fancied to leave at one stage, but the speculation ended after the £19 million-rated star was handed a new deal with higher wages.
The 30-year-old has since showcased his importance in the side with two goals and two assists from eight appearances in all competitions.
Gabriel Martinelli, who generally competes with Trossard for the left wing role, has likewise stepped up with four goal involvements.
Hence, it appears unlikely that Arsenal will pursue a specialist for the position until next summer.
Trossard’s deal was not extended beyond June 2027 despite the increased salary. He is more likely to be sold when the season ends.
