Liverpool keen on Semenyo
The 25-year-old Ghana international is reportedly valued at £75 million, while Tottenham are also considering making a move.
“Semenyo chose to remain at the Vitality Stadium in the summer despite seeing some of his big name team-mates move on after impressive years. The Reds are now weighing up a move with sporting director Richard Hughes also a big admirer of Semenyo having signed him from Bristol City when he was at Bournemouth.
“Manchester United weighed up a move for Semenyo in the summer, as did Tottenham, and it is understood that The Red Devils continue to keep tabs on the player. However, he ended up signing a new deal with Bournemouth and Ruben Amorim instead landed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.”
United and Liverpool track Upamecano
Manchester United and Liverpool could face off in the pursuit of Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano.
The defender is out of contract in the summer, and reports in Germany suggest the Premier League duo are keen.
“Upamecano, 26, is one of Bayern’s most focal figures at the back but his contract runs out in June.
“According to Bild, United are ‘showing serious interest’ in the centre-back’s contract situation as he could pose as one of the best bargain deals in next year’s summer transfer window.
“However, The Red Devils are facing competition from rivals Liverpool, who are also searching for an elite defender.
“The Reds came just a whisker away from signing Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi on deadline day during the summer.”
Bayern may be tempted to sell Kane
A good World Cup for Harry Kane might see his club side Bayern Munich tempted into selling the striker next summer, according to the Daily Star.
With Kane approaching 33, the German champions might want to maximise his resale value in order to fund the signing of his replacement.
“And with him poised to enter the final 12 months of his Bayern deal at the start of next season, it could be that the German giants decide to cash in on someone before it’s too late.
“He will be 33 by this stage, and a sizeable fee for Kane could tempt Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen into selling. Bayern will need some funds to put towards a replacement, which will prove easier said than done.”
Gerrard set for Rangers talks
Rangers will hold talks with former manager Steven Gerrard about installing him as Russell Martin’s replacement at Ibrox.
The Daily Record believes that Gerrard is currently unconvinced by the standard of the Rangers squad.
“The former Ibrox boss led the club to their last title back in 2021 and is the overwhelming favourite among the fans to replace Russell Martin, who was sacked on Sunday after the 1-1 draw with Falkirk.
“Rangers want to know if Gerrard can be convinced to head back. They have now reached out to his camp to arrange a meeting, which is planned for the coming days.
“The 45-year-old would be keen on a return to Rangers if everything was right. Record Sport revealed earlier this week that Gerrard has severe reservations about the current Ibrox squad. We also reported Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe are meeting in London on Thursday.”
