Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes picked up a clean sheet during Brazil’s 5-0 win over South Korea in an international friendly on Friday.
The 27-year-old has had a fabulous start to the season with the Gunners, and recently scored a dramatic late winner against Newcastle United in the Premier League.
Gabriel is presently on international duty with Brazil. He lined up alongside Eder Militao in central defence against South Korea and delivered another solid performance.
The Gunners ace had 76 touches while completing 93 percent of his passes. He completed five out of six long balls attempted and made five successful ball recoveries.
Brazil have another friendly against Japan on the road next week on Tuesday. Manager Carlo Ancelotti is likely to make wholesale changes, and Gabriel could be rested.
Arsenal will be hoping that is the case. Gabriel had a season-ending hamstring injury last term, and he only reported for pre-season training during the back end.
The £65 million-rated star has since been playing continuously for club and country. Hopefully, he will be given a breather before rejoining Arsenal for the season restart.
The Gunners have a potentially winnable schedule with Fulham, Crystal Palace, Burnley and Sunderland to face in the Premier League before the next international break.
They are presently one point ahead of Liverpool at the top of the standings, and have a good opportunity to extend the advantage with the Reds facing a trickier fixture list.
Arne Slot’s side face Manchester United, Brentford, Aston Villa and Manchester City in their next four league games, and there is scope for them to drop some points.
