Barcelona make decision as Marcus Rashford future becomes clearer, front-runner to replace Ange Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest emerges – Paper Round

The Mirror reports that Barca will not offer Robert Lewandowski a new contract when his current deal ends in the summer.

“The situation means that Rashford could see his dream move become permanent with the Manchester United outcast currently on loan in Spain.

“He’s been crucial to their recent success, scoring 105 times in 156 appearances, but the club’s bosses will not offer him a new deal.

“Catalan paper Sport claim that they don’t believe Lewandowski is still able to press with the required intensity and that his decline has begun.

“Lewandowski’s wages are also thought to be an issue for the club, who have battled financial issues and penalties recently.

“The situation means that Rashford could see his dream move become permanent with the Manchester United outcast currently on loan in Spain.

“Whilst Ruben Amorim remains in Manchester, which in itself is a subject for debate, Rashford appears to be frozen out. Leading lights in Barcelona have been impressed by the 27-year-old’s work ethic and talent. They can make the deal permanent at the end of the season by paying an initial £25m plus £5m in add-ons.”

Nottingham Forest could turn to former Everton and Burnley boss Sean Dyche should they part ways with Ange Postecoglou.

The Telegraph claims Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis sees Dyche as a candidate to save the club’s season after a poor start which sees them occupy 17th in the Premier League table.

“Former Forest trainee Dyche, 54, lives in Nottingham and has significant experience of keeping teams in the Premier League – and Forest could face a relegation battle this season as they are currently 17th in the Premier League table, just one place above the drop zone.

“Postecoglou’s future has been the burning issue at Forest during the international break, with all parties aware that there could be a parting of the ways. Marinakis is understood to have considered a number of options, including the current Fulham manager Marco Silva, but he would represent a major compensation issue, even if he was prepared to leave his current club.

“Marinakis is also understood to have considered his former manager Steve Cooper, but he too is currently employed – enjoying a strong start as coach of Brondby in the Danish Superliga. An out-of-work manager would mean no immediate hiring issues and Dyche fits that bill.”

Jordan Pickford is set to follow in the footsteps of James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite and sign a new deal with Everton.

The England goalkeeper’s fine form is set to be rewarded with a new four-year contract.

“Securing the long-term future of the 31-year-old has been a priority for the manager David Moyes and owners The Friedkin Group as they seek to keep the defensive spine of the team in place.

“His latest contract could stretch his association with the Merseyside club to 12 years.

“Everton will also look to extend the deal of the 24-year-old midfielder James Garner, who is out of contract at the end of the season, and that of the left back Vitalii Mykolenko.”
