Arsenal will look to maintain their grip on top spot in the Premier League when they visit Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday evening.
The Gunners head into the London derby buoyed by a strong run of form that saw them reclaim first place before the international break, following a 2-0 victory over West Ham United at the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta’s side have won four consecutive matches in all competitions, building momentum ahead of a crucial phase in their title charge.
Saturday’s fixture, however, presents a tricky test. Arsenal have not won at Craven Cottage since 2023, and Fulham remain unbeaten at home this season.
Marco Silva’s side have collected seven points from their opening three home games, holding Manchester United and Leeds United while beating Brentford.
Arteta acknowledged that returning to a ground where Arsenal have struggled recently represents another opportunity for his players to show progress. “It’s a really tough place to go,” he said.
“They’re a very well-coached team, and we’re going to have to be at our best tomorrow. We lost against them before, so it’s another chance to put that right.”
The Spaniard emphasised the importance of consistency and maintaining high standards if Arsenal are to sustain their position at the top. “I prefer to win every game,” he said.
“It’s still early in the season. What matters now is performing well and sustaining the things we’re doing right. If we keep improving, we’ll be in the best position when it matters.”
Injuries continue to shape Arteta’s squad selection, with captain Martin Odegaard ruled out for several weeks with a knee issue.
The Norwegian joins Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Noni Madueke on the sidelines, while Ben White faces a late fitness test. Piero Hincapie could feature after returning to training this week, offering defensive reinforcement.
Despite the setbacks, Arteta praised his squad’s resilience. “We’re coping because we have strength in depth,” he said. “Of course, Martin is a key player, but others are stepping up and performing really well. That’s what we need to keep doing.”
Defensively, Arsenal have been outstanding, conceding just three goals in seven league games — the best record in the division. Arteta believes that solidity is the foundation for sustained success.
“That’s the platform to build performances and results,” he noted. “If we continue to defend at this level, it gives us a big chance to get what we want.”
With Manchester City and Liverpool close behind, Arsenal know that maintaining momentum is vital. Victory at Fulham would not only strengthen their position at the summit but also reaffirm their growing reputation as genuine title contenders.
