Bukayo Saka believes Arsenal are ready to take the “next step” under Mikel Arteta as he outlined his excitement about the club’s direction, new teammates and their growing hunger for silverware.
Speaking to Sky Sportsthe 24-year-old reflected on the Gunners’ strong start to the season and praised the mentality that has taken hold in the dressing room. “This year, I feel we’re a very strong group,” he said.
“We’ve had injuries, but everyone who comes in keeps the level high. That’s what it’s going to take for us to go all the way.”
Saka has been part of Arsenal’s title races in recent years and knows how fine the margins can be. He admitted that the key will be timing their best form for the business end of the campaign.
“I’ve finished second three times now,” he said. “It’s not about where you are now, it’s about being there in April and building momentum when it matters most.”
The England international also heaped praise on Arteta, crediting the Spaniard for his belief and influence. “He’s always trusted me from a young age,” Saka said. “He’s evolved through all the ups and downs, and I think he’s an even better coach for it. I’m grateful for the way he pushes me and the team to improve every day.”
Saka also highlighted the impact of the club’s summer arrivals, particularly Eberechi Eze, who joined from Crystal Palace. “He’s fit in like a glove,” Saka smiled. “He’s happy, playing well and giving everything for the badge. That’s what you need — players who love being here and want to fight for the club.”
He added that the competition for places, boosted by signings like Viktor Gyokeres and Eze, has sharpened Arsenal’s edge. “We’ve got so much quality now,” he said. “Everyone wants to play, and that’s pushing us to keep improving.”
Despite already passing 100 goal involvements for Arsenal, Saka remains focused on the bigger picture. “It’s a nice milestone, but I’m always looking for more,” he said.”I’ve grown from a boy to a man at this club, and now I want to help win the biggest trophies. That’s the next step for all of us.”
With Arsenal back among the Premier League’s front-runners and competing on multiple fronts, Saka’s belief in their potential is clear.”You can’t do anything if you don’t believe,” he said. “It won’t be easy, but it’s possible — and I really believe it’s our time.”
