Arsenal face competition for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo as Al Nassr join transfer hunt – Paper Round

Al Nassr make contact for Rodrygo

Arsenal may face a huge obstacle in their hunt to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid this summer.

Al Nassr want to team the Brazilian forward up with Cristiano Ronaldo, according to The Sun.

The paper reports: “Al Nassr have launched a massive bid to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid – and they’re willing to break the bank to get him.

“The Saudi club, backed by a whopping transfer kitty, have contacted the Brazilian winger’s representatives to discuss a potential move to the Saudi Pro League.

“However, Rodrygo has made it clear he’s not ready to swap Madrid for Riyadh just yet.

“If he decides he wants a new challenge, his first choice would be to stay in Europe with England’s top flight being his preferred destination.”

Son rejects LAFC

The Mirror reports that Son Heung-min has turned down a move to MLS outfit Los Angeles FC.

The forward has been linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur, and Saudi Arabian clubs are still keen.

The paper writes: “Son Heung-min is set to turn down the advances of Los Angeles FC this summer but the Tottenham captain retains interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.

“Spurs skipper Son, 32, has entered the final 12 months of his deal in north London and there has been speculation of a move away from the club having finally won a trophy in May’s Europa League final.

“After a decade of loyal service to the club Son, who earns £200,000 per week, is open to moving on but he will also wait for the right opportunity rather than rush into a move.”

Arsenal agree terms with Madueke

Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, but there is no deal between the clubs yet.

The 23-year-old is willing to make the switch from west London to the Emirates, and he could follow Kepa who has already joined Arsenal this summer.

The Athletic claims: “Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Noni Madueke as they consider making an approach to Chelsea for the winger.

“Madueke, 23, has given his green light to the move but there have been no club-to-club talks yet.

“Arsenal have good relations with Chelsea and have already done business with them this summer, with goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga joining Mikel Arteta’s side after the north London side triggered his £5 million release clause.”

Mbeumo fee set, Newcastle make new Elanga bid

Brentford will not budge on their valuation for Bryan Mbeumo, wanting £63 million. Manchester United could be helped with their finances if Newcastle United land Anthony Elanga, though.

Newcastle have reportedly offered £55m, for Forest winger Elanga, reports the Daily Star.

Should that deal go through, then Elanga’s former club, Manchester United, would receive £6m from a sell-on clause.

The paper states: “Elanga made the switch to Nottingham Forest from United in 2023, and the report suggests The Red Devils are owed roughly 15% of any profit should the winger be sold. If Forest accept Newcastle’s proposal, United stand to pocket £6m.

“Elanga had a standout season last year, contributing to 17 goals in 38 Premier League appearances for Forest. This helped them secure a seventh-placed finish and their first European qualification in nearly three decades.”
