Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad in a deal worth €63million.
The Spanish midfielder is Arsenal’s second summer signing after Kepa Arrizabalaga arrived from Chelsea.
Zubimendi is expected to play alongside Declan Rice in midfield. He has a strong reputation after a successful spell at Sociedad.
A product of the club’s academy, he featured 236 times for the first team across all competitions.
He played a key role in helping Sociedad finish fourth in La Liga during the 2022/23 season, earning the club a place in the Champions League for the first time in a decade.
Spain international keen to make an impact at Arsenal
The midfielder has also made a mark on the international stage.
He started all five matches for Spain at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, helping them win a silver medal.
Zubimendi was part of the team that won the 2023 UEFA Nations League and played a role in Spain’s success at the 2024 European Championship.
He came on as a half-time substitute in the final, helping Spain beat England 2-1.
Zubimendi joins a growing list of players who have made the switch to the Premier League from La Liga.
His arrival adds more balance and control to Arsenal’s midfield options heading into the 2025/26 season.
