SWEDEN PROGRESS TO QUARTER-FINALS AFTER DOMINATING POLAND
Sweden claimed a comfortable 3-0 victory over Poland to reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2025.
Sweden looked dangerous from the outset in their Group C match as the chances came thick and fast.
Successfully isolating Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor, who was unable to pose any real threat for the tournament debutantes, the Poles struggled to make headway here.
Sweden could have scored with numerous chances before they struck in the 28th minute. It was Stina Blackstenius who broke the deadlock in the minute when she headed in Johanna Rytting Kaneryd’s cross.
Another cross from Rytting Kaneryd led to a goal in the 52nd minute when captain Kosovare Asllani headed into the net.
Lina Hurtig sealed the deal for the four-time finalists when she headed a third goal 13 minutes from time.
Sweden now sit at the top of Group C on goal difference and play Germany on Sunday to decide who will finish the group stage on top.
