Team USA decimates Serbia, go up 3-0 in Olympic prep play

Team USA flexed its dominance to
put away Serbia, 105-79, in the USA Basketball Showcase in Abu
Dhabi.

In what is virtually round 1 of
their meeting with the Serbians, Team USA proved its might on the
world stage after finally registering the first blowout win of
their exhibition games. The Americans have a few close calls
against Canada (86-72) and Australia (98-92) before dominating
Serbia in this one.

Team USA will face Serbia once
again in the Olympics itself, as the two teams are grouped in Group
C and will play their first game against each
other.

Serbia managed to make the game
close in the 1st quarter by banking on their continuity as a team.
Most of the players from this team were in last year’s silver medal
finish in the FIBA World Cup, with the addition of NBA MVP Nikola
Jokic.

However, Team USA got their
groove in the second quarter and never looked back from there.
LeBron James even flexed for a couple of times when some Serbian
players tried to bump him off his dribble, ending in a bucket and a
display of superior strength by the Los Angeles Lakers
superstar.

Warriors superstar Stephen Curry
lit up the scoreboard as he finally had the best game of his Team
USA Olympic stint with 24 points, including 6/9 from the arc. Bam
Adebayo and Anthony Edwards provided the scoring punch off the
bench this time, dropping in 17 and 16 points
respectively.

Team USA now flies over to
London for their final two games of Olympic prep, facing South
Sudan and reigning World Cup champions. They will then head over to
Paris for the official start of the Games.
