The Sacramento Kings have begun
their offseason on a big note after getting Malik Monk’s approval
as he is set to re-sign with the team, according to ESPN’s Adrian
Wojnarowski.
Monk will reportedly resign with
the Kings on a very friendly four-year, $78 million contract to
remain with the franchise.
A 6th man of the year runner-up
with Sacramento, Monk will remain with the team by being its
microwave scorer off the bench and one of the most dynamic guards
in the league and stay with longtime friend DeAaron Fox.
Rumors have been swirling about
a lot of teams’ inquiries of Monk, and his market value was
reportedly around the 90-100 million USD range, so this pay cut
seems to be a little bit of a surprise.
The 26-year-old has resurrected
his young career in Sacramento after tumultuous stints with
Charlotte and the LA Lakers, and he has found a legit role and
place within the team.
