The Indiana Pacers will sign
veteran forward Pascal Siakam to a four-year, $189.5 million max
contract after the two sides reached an agreement, according to
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
After bringing in Siakam through
a mid-season deal and reaching the Eastern Conference Finals, the
Pacers will renew their partnership with the all-NBA forward and
include him in their long-term yet win-now perspective.
The 30-year-old Siakam is set to
sign the deal on July 6 after the league’s free agency moratorium
ends.
Siakam, a 2019 NBA Champion with
the Toronto Raptors, has been a key figure in Indiana’s improbable
run to the Eastern Conference Finals. He averaged 21.3 points on
55% shooting and 39% 3-point shooting in 41 regular-season games
with the team, being one of the primary options on
offense.
Siakam upped his game up in the
playoffs, often displaying his veteran savvy and championship
experience in a relatively young Pacers team. He added a different
dimension to Indiana’s offense, with his relentless attacking to
the rim, mid-range jumpers, and occasional three-point shooting
elevating the Pacers’ attack.
Siakam’s new contract will align
with young superstar Tyrese Haliburton’s contract, ending in 2028
and 2029 respectively.
