Minnesota Timberwolves point
guard Mike Conley Jr. has been named the 2023-2024 NBA
Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year, the league announced Wednesday
night.
Conley, 36, tightly won the
race. The Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year award featured 10
players nominated across the league. This includes the Brooklyn
Nets’ Mikal Bridges; New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson; Indiana
Pacers’ TJ McConnell; Cleveland Cavaliers’ Georges Niang; Boston
Celtics’ Al Horford; New Orleans Pelicans; Larry Nance Jr.;
Oklahoma City Thunder’s Jalen Williams; Denver Nuggets’ Kentavious
Caldwell-Pope; Dallas Mavericks’ Dwight Powell; Sacramento Kings’
Harrison Barnes; and Orlando Magic’s Markelle Fultz. Conley Jr.
finished with a total of 1172 points with 51 1st place votes
(equivalent to 10 points), 45 2nd place votes (seven points), 49
3rd place votes (five points), 23 4th place points (equivalent to
three points), and 33 5th place votes (equivalent to one
point).
Conley Jr. has now won the award
for the second time, having previously earned the honor in the
2018-19 season.
The 36-year-old point guard was
recognized as the player who was deemed the best teammate based on
selfless play, on- and off-court leadership as a mentor and role
model to other NBA players, and commitment and dedication to the
team.
Behind Conley’s good play, the
Timberwolves finished 3rd in the Western Conference with a 56-26
record this season.
