Barcelona make key decision regarding Camp Nou return amid slew of delays

Barcelona fans have had to contend with a lot of frustration as far as the return to Camp Nou is concerned.

The club had initially hoped to return to the old stadium in the wake of their 125th anniversary in November 2024. But since then, a slew of delays has pushed the final expected timeline to September 2025.

Earlier in the summer, Barcelona were indeed hoping to kickstart the 2025/26 campaign by returning to the revamped Camp Nou. But even that is under contention right now, in the wake of recent developments.

No more Camp Nou dates from Barcelona

According to AchrafBarcelona are no longer expected to announce any fresh or final dates for the return to Camp Nou.

This comes on the back of a recent update, which suggests the September return plans for the old stadium are now under a layer of doubt.

Ben Ayad adds that there is now no specific date either as far as the return to the old stadium is concerned, nor will there be any updates going forward.

This doesn’t bode well for Barcelona supporters, who were eager to see their beloved club return to the iconic Camp Nou.

Not to mention, another delay in the Camp Nou return may have serious consequences on Barça’s finances, including millions lost in revenue.

It must also be noted that the Catalans must soon confirm to UEFA their final venue for the league stage. If they fail to convince them of Camp Nou’s match readiness, they will be forced to play the four league stage matches elsewhere.

While this wave of uncertainty continues, Barcelona have already earmarked Montjuic as a potential plan B.
