LeBron James Jr., better known
as Bronny James, is weighing his options and considering whether to
enter the 2024 NBA draft,
Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul told
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Paul said James’ decision will
be based on specific team interest and not on his draft
position.
“I don’t value a young player
getting into the lottery as much as I do getting him on the right
team in the right developmental situation,” Paul told
ESPN.
ESPN’s draft experts Jonathan
Givony and Jeremy Woo recently pulled the younger James from their
2024 NBA Mock Draft and moved him to their 2025 NBA Mock
Draft.
Bronny, a freshman at USC, is
averaging 5.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists on the season
after being sidelined for five months due to a cardiac arrest in
July. His recent play has been encouraging, especially on defense,
but he has not looked like a one-and-done prospect. He has often
lacked assertiveness on offense and he’s missed opportunities when
he’s been on the floor, shooting just under 40% from the
field.
His father LeBron James has
discussed the possibility of playing with Bronny, but Paul insists
that LeBron wants his son “to be his own man.” Paul added that
landing James Jr. would not immediately equate to landing the elder
James in free agency, but that it would be a welcome development
especially if it happens “organically.”
