The Phoenix Suns have acquired
forwards Royce O’Neale and David Roddy in a three-team trade with
the Brooklyn Nets and Memphis Grizzlies, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Brooklyn sent O’Neale to Phoenix
for three second-round picks while Memphis ships Roddy to Phoenix
for a pick swap. In return, the Grizzlies will get Yuta Watanabe
from the Suns as well as three other minimum-salary players:
Keita Bates-Diop, Jordan Goodwin
and Chimezie Metu.
The Suns retain assets after
this three-team deal for O’Neale and Roddy — including a
second-rounder and pick swaps. Additionally, Phoenix now has two
roster spots open to pursue additions on the buyout
market.
O’Neale and Roddy are two big
wings who will fortify the Suns’ playoff rotation. O’Neale, 30, is
averaging 7.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 49 games this
season. Roddy, 22, is averaging 8.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in 48
games this season.
