Adam Bakoune, who captained Milan’s Primavera side a few times last season, is now set to leave the club on a free transfer and sign a contract with Monza.
Bakoune came through the youth ranks at Milan and joined the Primavera side back at the start of 2022, making a very good impression immediately. That summer, and towards the end of the year, he even featured in some friendlies with the first team.
However, the expected development perhaps never materialised as despite making over 100 appearances for the Primavera, the parties have now decided to part ways. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the 19-year-old’s contract will expire at the end of the month and there is no agreement for a renewal.
As such, the right-back will now join Monza on a free transfer, where he will be hoping to get some first-team minutes in Serie B. Having captained the Primavera side a few times this past season, bagging three goals and three assists as well, it’s a great signing for Adriano Galliani’s side.
It should be noted that Bakoune underwent surgery due to a shoulder injury in May, and he thus won’t be available immediately for Monza. Perhaps this injury also influenced Milan’s decision to let him go.
