After weeks of no action, Barcelona are finally on the verge of selling Pau Victor, who has been rendered surplus to requirements following the arrival of Marcus Rashford.
Indeed, Victor is no longer part of Barcelona’s plans for next season, with recent reports suggesting that he is closing in on a move to SC Braga.
Victor has reached an agreement over personal terms with Braga and is expected to fly to Portugal tomorrow to complete a deal worth around €12 million, with €3 million in add-ons.
How much will Barcelona save through Victor’s sale?
The sale of Pau Victor will go a long way in helping Barcelona relieve some of the stress on the balance sheet.
However, according to Sports Worldthe sale of the fringe attacker could help Barcelona free up €2.8 million in Financial Fair Play margins.
Although this is not insignificant, Barcelona would have ideally hoped to free up a lot more. But given the low transfer fee coupled with Victor’s relatively low salary, Barça can only free up €2.8 million.
However, if added to the overall sales of Clement Lenglet, Ansu Fati, and Pablo Torre, Barcelona have freed up €21 million in fair play margins.
This could go a long way in helping the club register the new signings, especially given the fact that Barcelona may not be able to utilise Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s salary to register new players, despite the goalkeeper being ruled out for three months.
Not to mention, the Catalans require more sales in order to reduce the stress on the balance sheet and decrease the wage bill.
With some fringe players already leaving, Barcelona will now be eyeing sales of more prominent players, with Andreas Christensen among the stars in contention to leave the club this summer.
