Arsenal have had a solid transfer window with six signings thus far.
The Gunners started their summer spending with the acquisition of Kepa Arrizabalaga.
They have since confirmed the arrifals of Martin Zubengdi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres.
Mikel Arteta’s side have not ended their summer transfer business, but further spending could depend on some player departures.
The Times today claim that Leandro Trossard is increasingly likely to leave Arsenal.
The £90,000 per week star is on the radar of Borussia Dortmund and several Premier League clubs.
The sale of the Belgian would help the Gunners fund moves for a left-sided winger and Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze.
Arsenal need player sales to extend spending spree
The Gunners have made a huge outlay of almost £200 million on transfers this summer.
However, with staggered payments involved, they will only pay a small portion of that fee upfront.
The same will be the case for additional signings. Arsenal are determined to land Eze from Palace, but have no plans of triggering his release clause worth £68m.
Instead, they are likely to propose a slightly lesser fee while negotiating a long-term payment plan.
The same could be the case for a new left winger. Real Madrid’s Rodrygo has been identified as a top target, but he could cost a package of £77m this summer.
Arsenal could lower the final price towards the transfer deadline, but may still need to pay a reasonable chunk of the fee upfront to persuade Los Blancos into a deal.
Rodrygo would be an upgrade on Trossard with his superior distribution and dribbling skills. He missed just one big chance in the Spanish top-flight last season.
Trossard was signed for £27m with add-ons from Brighton & Hove Albion. If Arsenal can secure at least £20m from his sale, the funds could be used as an initial payment for Rodrygo.
Aside from Trossard, the club are actively looking to offload Reiss Nelson. They are in advanced negotiations with Fulham over his potential summer exit.
Fabio Vieira could also be on the move. The Portuguese playmaker is attracting interest from Parma as well as West Ham United. Arsenal are looking for £20m.
