Arsenal have confirmed that goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is out of their game against Tottenham Hotspur today.
The Spaniard joined the Gunners from Chelsea earlier in the summer transfer window and was involved in action when they took on AC Milan last Wednesday and Newcastle United on Sunday.
However, the Arsenal goalie has sustained a knock in training and will not be on the bench today.
“Riccardo Calafiori is absent after going off injured during our win over Newcastle United in Singapore,” the North London club wrote on their website.
“As are Kepa Arrizabalaga, Gabriel and Jurrien Timber.”
The severity of his injury is unknown, and manager Mikel Arteta will hope it is nothing serious as he needs his second-choice option in goal available ahead of the new season.
Arsenal return to action after the North London derby against Spurs today next Wednesday when they take on Villarreal.
They play Athletic Bilbao at Emirates Stadium next Saturday in their last pre-season game, and fans will be watching to see whether Arrizabalaga will be featuring in any of those games.
The 30-year-old was pictured at the training session yesterday but was not involved in action, and Arteta will be providing an update on his fitness after the game.
David Raya is starting in goal against Spurs today, with Tommy Setford and Alexei Rojas-Fedorushchenko on the bench to provide cover if needed.
The Gunners will start the new season against Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 17, and Arteta needs all his key players available as he looks to hit the ground running in 2025-26 and have his team kick things off by firing on all cylinders.
Arrizabalaga made three saves in the penalty shoot-out against Milan to prove his quality in his first-ever appearance for the North Londoners, and he will fancy his chances of giving Raya a run for his money in the Arsenal starting XI.
