PSG STORM INTO LAST EIGHT AS MESSI’S REUNION DOESN’T GO TO PLAN
Joao Neves netted a brace as Paris Saint-Germain crushed Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami 4-0 to storm into the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup.
The European champions were relentless from the off with the Portugal midfielder nodding in an early opener before adding a second with a simple tap-in on 39 minutes.
An own goal from Tomas Aviles and a clinical rebound from Achraf Hakimi made it 4-0 prior to the interval with the MLS side offering little resistance.
Messi was featuring against his former side, but he cut a peripheral figure until the second half where he showed one or two flashes of magic with no reward.
Luis Enrique’s PSG cantered through the rest of the game and will now face Bayern Munich or Flamengo in the last eight next Saturday.
