Barcelona can sign forward target for a reduced release clause of €65 million – report

With Robert Lewandowski likely playing his final season at Barcelona, the club have kick-started their search for a new number one.

One of the options Barcelona have added to their radar is Serhou Guirassy. The former Koln striker has done a wonderful job since joining Borussia Dortmund in 2024, racking up as many as 44 goals in 58 competitive matches.

He was also the top scorer in the Champions League last season, scoring 13 goals in 14 matches. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Barcelona among the clubs keen on the services of the 29-year-old.

Guirassy reach agreement with Dortmund

Now, in a major boost for Barcelona, it appears Guirassy has reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to lower the value of his release clause.

According to Sport Bild (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Guirassy’s release clause fees will be reduced to €65 million next summer, after the forward reached an agreement with the Bundesliga giants.

This would make Guirassy economically accessible for a club like Barcelona, who are on the hunt for a new striker.

While the Catalans would ideally like to sign younger alternatives such as Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez or even Benjamin Sesko, Guirassy does emerge as a sensible medium-term fix.

The Guinean forward being available for just €65 million could come as a relief for Barcelona, especially amid reports of Borussia Dortmund slapping a €100 million price tag for the player.

Guirassy has a contract with Dortmund until 2028. But his spell in Rhineland could end as early as 2026, if Barcelona manage to splurge €65 million on the forward next summer.

The 29-year-old has already shown that his performances last season weren’t a fluke, having netted six goals and mustered three assists in eight competitive matches.
