Christian Norgaard has been at Arsenal for just three months but has already decided which club he wants to join when he leaves the Emirates.

The Gunners signed Norgaard from Brentford in July in a deal worth up to £15m and he’s only played two games since his switch to north London.

Norgaard played the full 90 minutes in Arsenal’s 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Port Vale – but failed to impress – with the Dane described as a ‘cone’.

Other than that, Norgaard came off the bench for the final moments of Arsenal’s 2-0 Champions League win over Athletic Bilbao in September.

Norgaard has still not played for Mikel Arteta’s team in the Premier League and has been an unused substitute in the last three top-flight matches.

The 31-year-old defensive midfielder has now revealed that he is planning to join his former club Brondby in Denmark when his Arsenal deal expires.

‘I can guarantee that Arsenal will be my last club abroad,’ Norgaard told Danish outlet Bold.

‘I still want to return to Brøndby when my contract at Arsenal expires. My contract is two years with an option for a further year.

‘And I would be happy to stay at Arsenal for the extra year if things develop in that direction.

‘If it turns out that it wasn’t the right match, we’ll go home to Denmark after two years.’

Norgaard, capped 35 times by the Denmark national team, will have turned 33-years-old by time his initial two-year deal at Arsenal expires in 2027.

He played for Brondby from 2013 to 2018 and was named their Player of the Year in 2017 before they won the Danish Cup in the following season.

Norgaard left Brondby to join Italian side Fiorentina but only spent one season in Serie A before he joined English club Brentford.

He helped the Bees earn promotion to the Premier League in 2021 and was crowned Brentford Supporters’ Player of the Year the next season.

Norgaard spent a total of six years at Brentford, playing 196 games for the club.

Speaking after he joined Arsenal in July, Norgaard said: ‘Now, I get to hear the anthem and be a part of a Champions League campaign.

‘It’s a childhood dream and something I didn’t think would be possible.

‘So it’s something I’m really, really happy about.’
