Steve Parish admits Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton will want UEFA Champions League football amid Manchester United links

Wharton has also been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid since arriving from Blackburn Rovers in January 2024, but the midfielder is tied down to a contract until 2029.

Parish hopes that the England international can realise his Champions League dream with Crystal Palace.

“He’s an extraordinary talent. I think he’s very committed to the club.

“If Manchester United want Adam Wharton, there’s nothing really surprising about that.

“The fact of the matter is, he’s got a long contract to run.”

Wharton has made 10 appearances for Palace across all competitions this season and was a big reason why his side were able to go on a club-record 19-game unbeaten run.

Oliver Glasner’s team will return to Premier League action on Saturday when they take on high-flying Bournemouth at Selhurst Park.

Palace have the chance to leapfrog their rivals in the table, but only if they bounce back from their first defeat of the season and secure all three points.

Wharton is just the latest name in a long list of players who have been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park.

Palace manager Glasner is also believed to have plenty of admirers, with his contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

The Austrian’s place as a club legend has already been cemented following his side’s 1-0 victory against Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

However, Parish revealed that a deal can be agreed on a new contract and that “early conversations” have already taken place.

“We’ve had some early conversations,” he added.

“We’d love to keep Oliver.

“We’re building something.

“I think for Oliver it’s about the conditions being right.

“It’s about everything being in a way that he enjoys his work, and he finds the conditions favourable to achieve.

“Oliver wants to win things.

“If we can align those interests, then hopefully we can make something happen.”
