Rookie sensation Caitlin Clark
recorded an all-time WNBA stat line to break another record in the
process.
Clark dished out 19 assists,
which would be the all-time WNBA single-game assist record,
however, it was not enough to lead her team to the win as the
Dallas Wings beat the Indiana Fever 101-93.
The Indiana Fever superstar
surpassed the record previously set by Courtney Vandersloot via an
assist to Kelsey Mitchell for a left-wing three. Vandersloot
previously held the record with 18
assists.
Clark’s performance also set a
single-game rookie assist record, passing the 16 assists set by
Tina Penicheiro in 1998. Clark has also broken the Fever’s
single-season franchise assist record with 202 in just 26 games,
midway through the season.
The game proved to be a historic
night for Clark and the Fever as the WNBA heads into the all-star
break. Clark and teammate Aliyah Boston are set to play for the
WNBA All-Stars going up against Team USA Women’s National Team in
part of their preparation for the upcoming Paris
Olympics.
